Viaz del Gonela
A weekend in Val Zoldana with an overnight stay in an unguarded bivouac. We will walk the Viaz wild and uncrowded paths, which with some climbing pass and short descents in a breathtaking landscape will make us enter the heart of the Spiz di Mezzodì, where eagles nest. The Viaz are slender traversing routes that exploit slender ledges and spectacular passages, taking advantage of the weak points of the rocks. Used initially by chamois, they were later discovered by the hunters who followed them. The Viaz are little known, marked only by little stone markers and wrapped in an aura of mystery likemthe poachers who frequented them.

Day 1: Climb to Carnielli bivouac
departure at 11:00 from Forno di Zoldo
We will drive to the bottom of Val Pramper (Pian de la Fopa 1200mt), where we will leave the car. We will climb then the steep trail that in about 4-5 hours reaches the Carnielli Bivouac (2010mt), an eagle’s nest perched on the Spiz of Mezzodì. Overnight at the Carnielli Bivouac, where we will admire a spectacular sunset that takes the whole Val di Zoldo, the Pelmo and the Civetta.
Day 2: Viaz del Gonela and return to the Sora’l Sass refuge.
Early in the morning we will walk the viaz del Gonela, that with a long traverse cuts the Spiz of Mezzodì wall in an aerial and perfect way. We will face some short climbing passages and some rappelling. Gone out from the viaz, we will descend through Forcella La Porta screes to reach the wood where the Sora’l Sass refuge is located, from where, with a round ride, you return to the car.

Boots, harness, helmet. For those without it, XMountain can rent the equipment.
