3 days of climbing in Upper Valle Tanaro – Mongioie refuge
The walls of the Rocca dei Campanili, Rocca Garba and Manco are known by the mid-90s certainly for the quality of the rock and the bucolic environment that the Ligurian Alps in the Upper Val Tanaro. Climb to 2000 m with the sea in the distance where on the line
of the horizon you can often glimpse the mysterious profile of Corsica island. At the base of walls, perhaps even more famous, stands the Mongioie Refuge, an excellence of hospitality and quality of the cuisine. We are in the land of the so-called “white kitchen” a true expression art of food obtained from poor, typical mountain ingredients, skillfully blended into original and unique recipes.

Informations:
Day 1
Meeting in Finale Ligure or already in Val Tanaro in the afternoon or evening before the start of the activity. Transfer by car to Viozene 1300 m. (About 30 min.) To leave the car there. With 45 minutes of easy trail you can reach Pian Rosso where the Mongioie Refuge 1550m is located to stay overnight.
Day 2
Wake up at 7:00 am and approach to the wall of the Rocca dei Campanili with trail from
first steep then gentle and finally off the path on a meadow. Climbing an itinerary of 4 to 6 lengths (120/170 m.) And rappelling from the terminal stop, then return to the refuge for the mid-afternoon.
Day 3
Wake up at 7:00 and approach the wall of the Rocca del Manco with a medium slope traverse then off the path on steep lawn and rocks. Climbing an itinerary of 3 to 5 lengths (100/140 m.) and abseiling from the terminal stop, then return to the refuge and descent to the valley in Viozene.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Mountain clothing including long sleeved fleece, trousersclimbing / mountaineering, gore-tex shell, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Light hiking boots or approach sports shoes, climbing equipment (shoes, harness, helmet) .. The missing equipment can be supplied on request.
TYPE
Sport climbing (protected for the most part by fixes) on limestone with vertical or mostly plaques.
ELEVATION GAIN
Average 400 m per day.

LEVEL REQUIRED
Good basic training and good climbing level.
Medium difficulty courses – French scale from grade 5c / 6a.

UIAGM Alpine Guide registered in the Professional Register.
BOOKING
Mandatory within 15 days. from the date scheduled for the activity.
CANCELLATION AND REMODULATION
The booked activity may be canceled for meteorological reasons, in which case it may be
postponed or proposed an alternative program.
